Fast Food and Weight Loss

by Greg White

Most folks think that fast food and weight loss don't work well together, and for the most part they are right. When you think of "fast food" you most likely think about oily burgers, french fries, and gallon-sized cups of sweet drinks. Sadly, that's what fast food has become for many of us.

However , many fast food eateries are also starting to offer more calorie conscious options so eating fast food doesn't have to compete your weight loss. Below are some healthy fast food tips that will really work well with plans to lose weight:

Fast Food Weight Loss Tip 1 - Go Raw

Most of the food at fast food eateries are cooked customarily in heavy unhealthy oils. But sometimes they have "raw" options like a variety of salads, fruit and yogurt, and apple slices. When you consider the menu, attempt to pick foods that have not been processed to death. The closer it is to its natural form, the better.

Fast Food Weight Loss Tip 2 - Go Small

Did you know you can order from the children's menu no matter how old you are? Some normal diners won't let you do that, but fast food diners couldn't care less. You can buy a "Happy Meal" that contains a small burger, a tiny pouch of fries, and a little drink. While that does still contain more calories than you would get from a healthier option, at least it isn't a typical massive fast food meal having more than 1,000 calories.

Fast Food Weight Loss Tip 3 - Go Big, But Eat Small

If you actually want a food choice that doesn't come in smaller sizes, you can always order the regular size but eat only some of it. Break sandwiches in half, dump out half of the fries - or maybe eat merely a third of them.

Fast Food Weight Loss Tip 4 - Go Grilled

Plenty of fast food places now offer grilled chicken rather than batter dipped and fried. You may have this chicken on a sandwich, in a little tortilla wrap, or perhaps sliced on top of a salad. You will take in far fewer calories with these options than you would by eating something batter dipped, or a large greasy burger.

When it comes right down to it, you know which foods are healthier for you and which aren't. Employ a little common sense and you can find something healthy to eat virtually anywhere you go.
