The Rise In Popularity Of Less Invasive Cosmetic Surgery

by Janet Cook

All around the world there are people who would love to change something about their body, and make improvements to something that they're not happy about. The most popular ways of achieving a physical change in your body are to join a gym or start a new diet, but for some people these don't provide results quickly enough, or take too much effort on their behalf.

Cosmetic surgery has always been known as the quickest way to a great looking body, and it has become more and more popular in recent years. People seem to be happy to put their appearance into the care of their surgeon, and for what's quite often a considerable fee, they have faith that they'll be happy with the final outcome.

Whether or not cosmetic surgery is seen as a simple way of transforming your body, the decision to undertake a procedure isn't something that should be made without fully considering the risks and problems that can, and often do, occur. No surgical procedure can ever be classed as risk free - patients can develop a reaction to the anaesthetic that's used, or an infection can get into to the wound and prolong the recovery time.

In order to minimise the risks that their patients are put through, surgeons tried to come up with more advanced ways of performing their treatments so that they could achieve the same results but without the need for a invasive procedure. Not only has this proved beneficial to their existing clientle, it has opened up the world of cosmetic surgery to a whole new client base.

The best example of this change in practice comes in the procedures of liposuction and liposculpture, which have always been the cosmetic procedure of choice for anyone wanting to rid themselves of excessive deposits of fat and to tone and sculpt their body. It is often regarded as being one of the more gruesome procedures which requires the patient to be sedated so that the surgeon can make an incision into their body through which the fat can be suctioned away. It often requires an overnight stay in the clinic so that the patient can be monitored as they recover from the anaesthetic, and then a prolonged period of recovery while the wounds and body heals.

Even though both of these procedures have been incredibly popular, the cosmetic surgery industry realised that by coming up with a non surgical alternative treatment that gave in the same great results, they could dramatically increase the number of people who would consider signing up to a treatment. Using developments in surgical technologies, they were able to come up with a great non invasive technique, and non surgical liposuction was born.

A specialist laser is used to directly target the fatty layer through the skin, which effectively melts it turning it into a liquid waste that can then be passed naturally from the body. Some patients experience a small amount of blistering where the laser has treated, but this is usually mild and clears within a couple of days. In general, though, the treatment is pain free and very gentle to the patient's body. As no anaesthetic is used, and no incisions made into the body, the patient is fully recovered within an hour and able to get back to their everyday life.

The final benefit from this great new procedure is the more affordable price. As the process no longer requires a full surgical team or a complicated after-care structure, the costs have fallen significantly and as the technology progresses, the lasers are becoming cheaper for clinics to buy. Specialist treatment centres are opening up in lots of cities, and able to offer non invasive liposuction to their clients at incredibly affordable prices.
