If You Are Looking For The Best Way To Get Rid Of The Extra Weight Try Walking

by Eudora Phelan

Once you determine to shed off some pounds, you should develop an exercise plan. Maybe you're a newbie to exercising or you haven't worked out in a while? Even if it can appear overwhelming, you can work your way into a workout routine gradually by walking. You need to incorporate walking into your workout program if you haven't already done so.

There are lots of ways to mix walking into your everyday routine. You and your pet can both exercise by taking a 10-minute walk around your neck of the woods. Just consider, 10 minutes per day is the same as walking at least 70 minutes in a week. If you and your dog walk twice each day then that number doubles. If you live close to where you work, try walking all or some of the way. Don't even think of walking if your house is about 2 hours away from your office--unless you are interested to get up the crack of dawn each day! Walking half an hour to work is not inconceivable and, by the time you walk to and from work, you will have walked at least an hour a day. If you get on the buss to work, try walking to the next bus stop and put some exercise to your day. Walking can easily be incorporated into your routine.

Walking is great for your overall health. Because it's a cardiovascular workout, you'll burn calories, which means you'll melt off some pounds and it's also wonderful for your heart. Unlike running, which can strain your joints, you can walk at a pace you prefer. For example, I've always wondered how my brother could continue to be so slim when he eats up so much junk food. Although he claims he has no idea, I think the fact that he walks every day may have something to do with it. When he mentioned that, I had a better idea. Walking is an easy exercise so you don't have a good reason not to.

If you can stick to a walking routine daily, it will come naturally to you and you'll easily slim down. Because walking is not a tiring workout, it's less problematic to stay motivated and follow your plan. Once you have been walking daily, you'll probably want to step up the intensity level to experience even more benefit. There's no excuse not to do it if you feel okay with that. Pick up the pace when you walk and, if you want, try jogging for short distances. The next step will be to move on to even more strenuous workouts.

There should be no excuse for you to not go walk for a few minutes each day. No matter how busy you are, you should make time for a short walk in your neighborhood or drop by your gym for a short session on the treadmill.
